Volunteering at Equine Assisted Therapy, Inc.

Do you love the outdoors, horses & helping others?  Then we have  the PERFECT opportunity for YOU!!

Volunteers are needed to assist with riding lessons, horse care, and BINGO. 

GETTING STARTED IS EASY! Just call or email us to schedule a visit to the farm!

•     Barn Volunteers help with the day-to-day responsibilities of caring for the program horses.   This includes feeding, cleaning stalls, grooming, and helping to care for the facility and equipment.

•     Lesson Volunteers help when clients come to participate in therapeutic horseback riding lessons. These positions include Horse Handlers, Side Walkers, and Instructor’s Assistants.

•     Bingo Volunteers lend a hand during our year-round fundraising bingo games every Wednesday and Saturday evening at 421 Columbus Road, Mt. Vernon, OH.

 Requirements:

1. Lesson Volunteers must be at least 14 yrs. old while Barn Volunteers must be at least 10 yrs. old with adult supervision.  Bingo Volunteers must be at least 18 yrs. old.

2. All volunteers ages 18 years old and older are required to provide proof of a BCI&I fingerprint/background check prior to volunteering.

3. All volunteers must attend regular training.  Regular training session are held throughout the year.

4. Prior to attending training, please read the 2010 Volunteer Training Manual.

5. All volunteers must be able to commit to a regular schedule for a set period of time.

6. The following forms must be completed and on file:  Volunteer Information & Release Form andConfidentiality Agreement

7. Lesson and Barn Volunteers must enjoy being outside, being around horses, and children, and be fit enough to physically do the job.  Dressing appropriately for weather conditions is important.
